KIMCHI MAKING WORKSHOP
Welcome to our first collaboration with a health and wellness provider! We're working with MVPR Therapy to bring you a day of kimchi making and stretch therapy. Jacquie from Sonyo Food Co will start with the kimchi making workshop and then Mark from MVPR will lead a stretching session with insights on healthier living and functional recovery to help in your wellness journey - supported by a good gut 😉
Meet members from the community, prepare and take home a 1L jar of vegan kimchi to enjoy, and learn new stretches to practice at home to relieve tension and stress. Materials and ingredients will be provided so all you need to bring is yourself 💕
This workshop will be held at MVPR's North York location at 465 McNicoll Avenue, Toronto. Parking is available and the site is accessible by transit (TTC).
Limited spots available.
In an effort to help members of our community in need, if you are able to, we encourage the donation of new or lightly used winter items and/or those listed in the last image (first care items, essential items, food bank items). These items will be delivered to Haven on The Queensway.
Note: At checkout it will ask to select delivery or pick up. Either option works to proceed. There is no product being delivered or picked up. It is an in-person workshop at 465 McNicoll Avenue, Toronto :) more details will be emailed a week before the workshop.

Thank you Jacqueline for a wonderful kimchi-making session! The class was enjoyable, easy to follow and best of all - kimchi was delicious! I will definitely be trying this on my own!
We had an amazing time at our kimchi making workshop. It was filled with pleasant little surprises. We learned so much and felt so connected to our teacher and her grandmother as well as her ancestors. I feel greatly appreciative to have gained the knowledge of the process of making kimchi which has been passed on for many years.
I've always seen kimchi but never knew what goes into the manufacturing process. I went to Jacquie's workshop with my girlfriend and we both had a lot of fun. The tools and required veggies had all been set for us before we got there and Jacquie was an excellent host.
Throughout the kimchi making process, she would provide information on the correct way to cut the vegetables, how to wash, how to select, what to substitute, which ingredients she thinks are the best, cultural details behind her kimchi (North Korean style based on her grandmother's recipe), different types of kimchi, etc.
She cooked some kimchi pancakes for us as refreshment and provided some kimchi so we could taste what our hard work would result in. I loved her energy and vibe, how she would always be ready with answers to questions and how welcomed she made us feel.
10/10, would recommend.
This was so fun. Jacquie has such a kind energy and is gifted at helping to facilitate a group of strangers all working together to create something wonderful. I really appreciated the small tips I never would have thought of, like how to best cut napa cabbage to avoid having it all fall apart and make a mess. The stories, tips, and kimchi were all great. We were lucky enough to enjoy amazing mung bean pancakes and a beautiful walk outdoors. I came home with a jar of kimchi that everyone loved (even my young kids were trying to get every last bit I served). Thanks so much, Jacquie!
Making kimchi is one of those experiences that is meant to be shared. Jacquie is great at facilitating an accessible, comfortable, and intimate space for that. I appreciated all the stories and tips that she shared, as well. A wonderful (and delicious) way to spend a day!
